MATT ALEXANDER JOINS WESTERN & SOUTHERN OPEN AS VICE PRESIDENT, REVENUE & MARKETING

The Western & Southern Open has named Matt Alexander Vice President, Revenue & Marketing, making him the first person to hold the position.

IMG_0787In the role, Alexander will oversee revenue generation, growth, and strategy implementation relating to all corporate partnerships and ticket sales, as well as oversight of all marketing efforts for the combined ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 tournament that is held each August.

Alexander has previously worked in the Cincinnati area, having been Vice President of Sales and Marketing at nearby Kentucky Speedway. In addition to his motorsports experience – which includes serving as President of Chicagoland Speedway – Alexander’s two-decade career includes roles at the USGA’s U.S. Senior Open and FIFA’s Women’s World Cup in addition to agency work.

Since becoming a single-week tournament featuring both tours in 2011, the Western & Southern Open has attracted more than 1.8 million spectators, including ticket buyers who have traveled to Cincinnati from all 50 states and more than 35 countries. International broadcast agreements deliver coverage to more than 50 million viewers in over 160 countries.

In addition to more than 200 matches starring the world’s best professional tennis players, the Western & Southern Open features numerous attractions for fans outside the 17 courts. This includes more than a dozen restaurants, six signature bar areas, celebrity chef demonstrations, multiple musical performances each day, retail options and brand activations.

The Western & Southern Open features an ATP Masters 1000 as well as a WTA 1000 tournament in the same week at the same venue, making it one of five events to host concurrent top tier tour tournaments along with Indian Wells, Calif., Madrid, Miami and Rome.

The Western & Southern Open be held Aug. 13-21, at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. The 2021 singles championships were won by Ashleigh Barty and Alexander Zverev while the doubles titles were claimed by Sam Stosur & Zhang Shuai and Marcel Granollers & Horacio Zeballos.
